Words of Affirmation, the batcave and Brother Joseph

I am a words of affirmation kind of girl. People telling me I'm great, or that things I do are great. I thrive on being told I am doing a good job.

(bah ha-- Bentley just used the word 'implore' on the Bachelorette. It's too bad that that is who people have to show them about the LDS church...)
You should also read this blog post about Bentley and the MDs of this world.

Monday and Tuesday of this week my boss is TDY (Temporary Duty (Yonder)) in Texas. Since my man boss doesn't get home till after 7 every night, that leaves me in charge of dinner. I am grateful that Mary trusts me enough to take care of the dinner plans. Tonight, I made an amazing Asian dinner (see the Domestic Goddess blog) and then the kids asked if they could have strawberries with sugar for night time snack.

After I wiped the counters off after the kids did the dishes I took a minute or tow and sliced up some strawberries and sprinkled some sugar on them. J(the dad) came downstairs and I told him I'd prepped the kids night time snacks. (It's safer for me to do the prep, as J would let them eat as much as they wanted!)

As I walked back into my room (to clean it), J said
"You're so good to them."
That's all I needed. Just a little verbal positive reinforcement :)

Point two:
When my boss gave me the GPS to use in the car, she asked me not to set "home" to our actual home because if someone stole it they could get to our house... etc, but I was tired of entering our address every time I was trying to get home, so today I named home "The batcave" Now every time we get home my Australian male voice says "Now arriving at the Batcave."
How sweet is that?

And in other news. It is June 27th. Today is the anniversary of the Martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith Jr. 167 years ago at Carthage, Illinois.
Brigham Young once said "I feel like shouting Hallelujah, all the time, when I think that I ever knew Joseph Smith, the Prophet whom the Lord raised up. I am bold to say that, Jesus Christ excepted, no better man ever lived or does live upon this earth. I am his witness." ( Discourses of Brigham Young, sel. John A. Widtsoe [1954], 458-459.)
I love this man, whom I have never met. I love the doctrines that the Lord revealed through him, and I love the truth that he sacrificed his life for. How thankful I am for his life, his teachings, and his ultimate sacrifice.
