It all started when we showed up at Mary's dad's lake house in Commerce, Michigan around ten on Thursday morning. Her Dad and Step-mom were so nice, and her dad "a master chef" made us a late breakfast. (Ham, Eggs, toast and Fruit Salad; yummy yummy-- 100 cool points if you got that reference).
We sat and chatted while the kids played on the piano downstairs and pool, then we adults moved to the sun porch, which is where I first met him. He was in his mid 20's, generous with his attention, tall, sturdy, but not in the fat way, and loving. You could tell immediately that his language of love was physical, and I responded in kind. He's the kind of guy you could always feel safe around. Standing straight up he towered over everyone there, even Mary's 6'2" father.
We sat out on the warming sun porch as the sun continued to rise over the lake, waiting till it warmed up enough to go out on the boat. I pulled out my crocheting and kept working on the blanket I'm making for yet another of my pregnant friends (I must have at least 20 right now). He continuously admired my work. Finally after several hours in the sun, I was tired and decided to shut my eyes for a while.
I was wakened by his gentle breath on my face. I stirred and as I opened my eyes, he bravely planted a kiss on my out of practice lips. I reacted as one might expect, rather shocked at that kind of awakening.
I decided that while he was just a little road trip romance, I must have a boy like him someday.
Are you dying to see a picture of the boy who's captured my heart?
