Our road trip has been really fun. It's been a little stressful being with the kids 24 hours a day (and sometimes in very close quarters for verrry long periods of time-- in the van or hotel rooms). Tonight Mary and I left the kids at their aunt's house and are kicking it at the fairfield inn in Kalamazoo, Michigan. So while I'll wait for my camera cord to upload pictures and fully document our trip across the country, here are a few of the funny things the kids have said so far.
Ten minutes on the road:
Brian: "I'm so relaxed already. My feet have room my stuff has room, I'm just so relaxed"
Outside a Cracker Barrel in Northern Colorado where we stopped for dinner (the kids were more than ready to leave Colorado...)
Brian: It smells like cows. That means we're getting closer to Wyoming!
Leaving our hotel one morning.
Kelly: Emily, you're driving?
Me: Yes
Brian: Did mom say so?
Me: Yes
Brian: What if you crash and murder us?
Kelly: Brian, Emily's too nice to be a murderer.
Today at a gas station:
Brian: "Emily, Never, ever eat gas station sushi. It could kill you."
(I'm glad he likes me enough to want to save me from gas station sushi)
(I forgot one of the most priceless ones)
Brian in his journal before school got out: "I live in a hotel with my mom, sister and nanny. I have no home." (I hear you Brian, I hear you!)
As a side note:
Me and the Marriott, we're really good friends now. It'll be rough going back to making my own bed again after 10 days in the Hilton in Colorado, and it'll be 9 days with the Marriott on the road (we spent last night at the Hard Rock hotel in Chicago, which was pretty sweet, but overrated; give me a Marriott any day).
Now I'm going to put on my jammies, and watch the bachelorette and go to bed (with out kelly shoving me off the edge of it all night...which is what happened last night.)
Good night friends.
Em, that is hilarious! I love the funny things that little kids say. I also think you're too nice to be a murderer! :)
