We had a "townhall" type meeting in our Ward conference yesterday. To start it off they showed this animated cartoon of this guy meeting a girl who just moved into their ward. It was so true I almost killed over in laughter. Enjoy a small part:
Guy: "I'm a returned missionary and 21 years old. I live with my parents and am just getting started on my undergraduate degree. I drive my little brother's rundown truck because he just left for his mission."
Girl: "Ummm. Cool. I'm just finishing up my PhD, just bought a condo and drive a BMW."
Been in a single's ward latetly? Hilarious.
Now... I'm not quite in the girl's position (I WISH I had a BMW and a condo), but I do have a degree, I am employed full time somewhere that requires no jeans, and I am applying to grad schools. I also know that I live in Provo, where I am surrounded by students. However, I cannot COUNT the number of guys in my ward who have been home from their missions less than 6 months. One, my home teacher has been home 6 weeks AND IS ENGAGED! We had 4 engagement stories in my ward this sunday, FOUR!! Just in Relief Society.
And if I'm not mistaken I am the 3rd oldest girl in the ward... it's crazy here.
Don't think I'm complaining, because really, I haven't had the option to marry any stellar boys, and I will only ever marry a stellar boy (though the older I get the more that word is going to be "man" rather than boy, hopefully.)
Anyway... I'm not complaining, just sharing the joy of singles wards with you who may not be as fortunate as I am, to attend church in a single's ward!
I just think that if you get a BMW, you are going to have to let your father go shopping for it with you and drive it occasionally =) And yes, I think you should marry a man and not a boy!
