Easter weekend continued!

So you thought that my Friday was busy? Wait till you hear about Saturday and Sunday!

Saturday:
Woke up and got ready to head straight to SLC with the Family for Conference. As we were parking with one of Jeff's roommates under the church office building we saw Elder Hales and his wife zooming through the tunnels over to the conference center (!).We watched the morning session in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. We went to the car to get our picnic lunch, and as we were trying to exit the parking garage we found ourselves trapped in. So funny! Then Jeff and Wes ran and resuced us by going through tunnels and coming out of a random door on the side of Temple Square, cool huh? So we had our picnic lunch (which Kristen made and it was amazing!).
We went to the conference center for the afternoon session, which, can I just say that Conference was wonderful this year. Not that it's ever not wonderful, but I was better prepared and I got so much out of it, in addition to being very close to winning at General Conference Bingo!
After getting out of the conference center, we went to one of the Skidmore's good friends who live a block up from the conference center. They were so nice! Then the Men went to the Priesthood Session, and we women went to the Deseret Book flagship store. Kristen and I didn't last too long in there, too much estrogen! But we did see Liz Lemon Swindle (the artist) and Shari Dew. It was kind of cool.Kristen and I went over to the visitor's center, then we met Wendy and Stephanie, then went to meet the men.
We finally made it back home around 9:30 when the men were done with Priesthood Session. I got home, made cinnamon rolls for Sunday, and went to bed around midnight.

Sunday (this one's the really exciting day, who knew?)
This post has taken me way too long, so it's bullets again :)

*Alarm set for 5:39, body alarm decided that 3:30 was the time for me to get up. Recall I went to bed at midnight last night.
*Got all my stuff ready the night before, even showered, so all I had to do was straighten my hair, and put on my face.
*6am: I went out to my car and there was 4 inches of snow on top, oh joy. It took me a while to clear it off, and let Betsy heat up.
*6:15, on the road, going to pick the boy up so we can go Sing for conference tickets, it's part of the anti protest protest, I guess... They have Young Single Adults sing hymns where the protesters usually stand to bring the Spirit. Then they take them right into a reserved section of the conference center. I got to the boy's house in Sandy around 7:00 exactly
*7:15-ish: Almost to the exit into the city, going about 70 or 70 mph, I saw a car that had evidently hit ice, then proceeded to hit the same ice on an overpass. We swerved, turned 180 degrees and ended up hitting the center median of the freeway, 20 feet away from the last people. As we spun around all I could think was and out of my mouth came "well crap". The car's rear passenger side corner hit the cement median and we settled. Out of my mouth came some words that likely shouldn't have. Then, I looked over at the boy, we were both ok, and we got out of the car. My car is a tank, and I believe in angels. (Think Edward Cullen saving Bella from being smashed by that van in Twilight then remove the creepy vampire and put angels in it and forget I said anything about twilight). There was a pretty hefty scrape on the rear bumper (which is rubber, so whatever) and no other damage. I turned on the flashing lights and tried to drive her, everything was fine. I was shaking really badly, but ok, the boy was so sweet, he just stopped me and hugged me hard, which is exactly what I needed. He said that he saw the other guys who'd hit the ice (who had a very crumpled Honda-- their car wasn't from 1985) trying to jump the 6' barrier. Scary huh? So I got back on the proverbial horse and got off the freeway at the next exit.
*7:30: went to the meeting where they told us not to get confrontational with the protesters and by 8:00 we were out on the corner singing with super snazzy buttons on.(The boy and I were both sad that we didn't get to keep the buttons) We sang all the hymns that people know, and all of the verses of many that we don't usually sing (like How Firm a Foundation, A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, etc). They told us that we could go get a drink/go to the bathroom but to be back by about 9:00 so that we didn't miss our escort into the conference center.
*About 9, I realized that I had to go potty, so I went real quick into the visitor's center, and as I came out and started back towards the singing group a man in the hallway stopped me "sister, sister, your skirt". HA! My skirt was tucked into the back of itself (it's one of those poofy multi layered skirts so i couldn't really tell). I was grateful that the man would tell me, even if the other girl in the bathroom wouldn't.
* 9:20 we finished singing and were escorted to our seats in the conference center. We were on the second balcony- pretty good seats. We watched Music and the Spoken Word, which really helped me to begin to feel the spirit and to calm my 'troubled soul'. The boy and I played General Conference Bingo, and again, I dominated. It is one of my special skills, which is a little sad, since I only get to play every 6 months! What an amazing session! I loved the speakers and the music and let's be honest, being there with the boy.
* 12:00 after the session, we went back to his house for lunch/afternoon session, etc. It was so nice and comfortable. The Boy's mom, is the nicest woman in the world. I walked in with him and she hugged me and called me 'cute girl'. His dad is hilarious and asked me how well I knew my genealogy. My mom's family is old pioneer stock, but not from any big names, so I don't know it very well. I think he was trying to compare it to see if we were related. (the Boy was so embarrassed and asked his dad if he couldn't have waited till the second time he met me.) Two of his sisters were there with their kids who are adorable. One of them has a 5 week old baby and I got to hold him for a long time and play with the 3 year old, who loved my name 'Hi Em-a-wi!' and we sang songs at the piano/guitar. and it was just nice and comfortable. I helped make dinner and did dishes after and worked on a puzzle and played games and they teased us for meeting on the mission, but it was just... comfortable is the best word that I can come up with, maybe homey?. The Spirit was in their home and you could tell that they loved each other. Even his apostate brother (or awesome brother) who taught his dog to do sketchy tricks (ok, just the command for the trick was a little sketchy). I just... love them. They're not even my family and I love them.
*10:00pm. I was exhausted. (remember, 3 hours of sleep and a lot of Excedrin, but it's way too late to take Excedrin at night, I wanted to sleep). So we got all the boy and his brother's stuff (they'd been home for the weekend), and loaded up Betsy, and started driving (after shaking his dad's hand, and hugging his mom (who I'm pretty sure loves me, because I did the dishes). (Also because he said that his whole family loves me now...) ) <-- that's a lot of parentheses! We started driving, I got maybe 15 min down the road (probably closer to 5) and realized that I was exhausted. Not to the point of falling asleep, but to the point of not being focused. So I turned to the boy and asked him if he was good to drive. So he did. It was nice to not be the one in the driver's seat. I'm pretty sure I'd let him drive my car any time we go out. I could close my eyes and listen to music or whatever. Towards the end of the drive home, his brother pulled out the guitar and they sang to me again. Oh the skills.
*10:45pm: We went to his apartment and unloaded all the stuff, then we said good bye and I said "thank you for taking me home" I meant to his home, but he asked if he could drive me to my apartment. I tried to protest, but I really had no energy to protest too much, so he did drive me home and walk me up to my house (and help me carry all my stuff), and then he hugged me again and went back to his house.

If you stuck it out and read this whole super long blog, good for you! For those of you who scanned to the end here's the recap
