This one is NOT about a boy....

I just thought that might make some of you happy... :)

Who in the Church doesn't love General Conference Sunday? Everyone does! so I do believe that I am going to start having General Conference Sundays for the next 6 months, based on general conference talks, probably mostly from the past conference, but also from old ones that I love.

I LOVE General Conference. It really is a miracle, God has a prophet, and he calls leaders to teach us and to help us learn how to get back to Him, and every 6 months they write talks, directed by the Spirit, on what God wants us to hear, then that same Spirit speaks to me, and teaches me what I specifically need to learn from the aforementioned prophets. And I live in the same state as most of them... Incredible.

So let's be honest. I am kind of a planner. Even if I don't know exactly what's happening in my life, if I have a few options with some relatively good idea of what goes into each one, I'm good. It goes back to the I either like to be in charge, or informed or really, really really trust the person in charge. thing... That being said, patience is a little rough for me. I want to know what is going on in my life and it gets all crazy... But in General conference, this past week, President Uchtdorf gave a talk in Priesthood session all about Patience. That 8 letter word is  likely the hardest one in the dictionary for me. I took the talk, shrunk it to fit on four sheets of paper, then printed 4 sheets per page and it is now in my scriptures.

My favorite Quotes:

  • Patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act because of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring. It means staying with something and doing all that we can—working, hoping, and exercising faith; bearing hardship with fortitude, even when the desires of our hearts are delayed. Patience is not simply enduring; it is enduring well!

  • Every one of us is called to wait in our own way. We wait for answers to prayers. We wait for things which at the time may appear so right and so good to us that we can’t possibly imagine why Heavenly Father would delay the answer... God’s promises are not always fulfilled as quickly as or in the way we might hope; they come according to His timing and in His ways....I know for sure that the promises of the Lord, if perhaps not always swift, are always certain.

  • Patience means staying with something until the end. It means delaying immediate gratification for future blessings. It means reining in anger and holding back the unkind word. It means resisting evil, even when it appears to be making others rich.Patience means accepting that which cannot be changed and facing it with courage, grace, and faith. It means being “willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon [us], even as a child doth submit to his father.”8 Ultimately, patience means being “firm and steadfast, and immovable in keeping the commandments of the Lord”9 every hour of every day, even when it is hard to do so.
