Thankful Thursday: Merry Christmas!

A week ago on Thursday I said goodbye to the boy. After a ridiculous amount of delay, he said, "Merry Christmas" I looked at him with a raised eyebrow. He said something along the lines of "remember, whatever happens, it's always Merry Christmas." Over the past week i have thought about that statement. What exactly does the phrase 'merry Christmas' mean? I fear to frequently we take it too lightly. Merry Christmas means that Christ was born. It means that he lived that sinless, perfect life for us to follow, and it means that he ultimately performed the Atonement. The only act by which we can be not only cleansed from our sins, but we can have new resurrected bodies and return to our Heavenly Father. That's what Merry Christmas means. It means the power to overcome, not only sins, but there is the enabling power to help overcome weaknesses that may not be sins.
And that's what I'm thankful for on this Thursday.

Merry Christmas!
